Gluten, the group of proteins found in wheat, some oats, rye, barley, spelt and kamut is a major cause of a lot of people’s digestive problems. Our diets are too high in gluten. The products we eat from these grains are from hybridized grains that contains up to 700% more gluten that the original grains! Symptoms include
- skin rashes (often mistaken as psoriasis),
- lower back ache (see the article ‘Have you had enough of your back pain?’),
- ear, nose, throat and sinus infections,
- chronic bronchitis,
- brain fog (yes it is actually called this!)
If you suspect that gluten is causing you concerns, take it out of your diet for 4 weeks. It must be a complete abstinence. Or you can get a simple blood test done to see if you are allergic to gluten. You will need to start reading labels and even then, these can be obscure in the contents. Cinnamon, as an example, often contains gluten, as it is cheap filler. There are several good web-sites that will help you. Or feel free to give me a call. I have seen some amazing results when someone removes gluten from their diet. Hip pain, lower back pain, chronic neck and shoulder tension release. Irritability in children lessens and chronic coughs stop.
